I don't normally watch horror films, but I took a chance on this film.
Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her childhood, Adelaide feels her paranoia is growing as she believes something bad will happen to her and her family when they go back to that beach where the trauma began. When night falls, silhouettes of four figures holding hands appear in the driveway of Adelaide's family vacation home. This film puts this family against a terrifying opponent . . . . Which happens to be doppelgangers of themselves.
This film doesn’t give many answers to questions that arise during the film, except more questions arise throughout especially at the end. Not just horror, there are moments of humour which makes this film interesting to watch. However, this film isn't perfect, I was expecting more ‘horror'. There was some jump scares and the plot were really interesting; whilst watching you aren't sure if anyone will or can survive the doppelgangers, but it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. For someone who isn't a huge horror lover, this film was good for me, yet I was expecting something really shocking to really scare me (which never happened).
The actors had a really difficult job in this film as they had to characters to create. The doppelgangers have a completely different physicality, they are more animal-like and wild, yet the original characters are scared due to the events. The acting was amazing in this and you really believed in these characters and it is very impressive that all of them manage to create two different characters which are both believable.
Really intriguing plot with really convincing characters and acting. It isn't perfect yet it is full of twists that you don't expect. This is a strange film and the outcome isn't what you might expect. It makes you jump at times and once the film ends you want to know what will happen to the Wilson family.
You don’t have to be a huge horror film fan to enjoy this film.
