The Incredibles 2 (2018) Review

Just like most people I have been waiting for the sequel to the first Incredibles film. This film and the wait didn’t disappoint. I was lucky enough to watch this film in 3D too.

This film is very enjoyable to watch with the family and/friends. All the old characters returned and the film starts off where the first film ended. The first film ended with the Undermine trying to destroy and take over the city but the Incredibles stop him; this is no spoiler as this isn't the main villain in this film. The Incredibles and Frozone are approached by Deavor who is a very wealthy man and wants to make superheroes legal again by getting them in the public eye for doing good things in the community and helping the public. This is done with Elastigirl being chosen to do this. However, this means Bob (Mr Incredible) has to take over looking after the children (Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack) with Helen (Elastigirl) working away. While Elastigirl away, Mr Incredible struggles with family life especially when he discovers Jack-Jack has powers which he can't fully control. In this film the main villain is called the Screensaver who causes chaos, as he is able to control people's minds as long as there is a screen in front of them. While Mr Incredible tries to cope with Jack-Jack's powers he enlists the help of Edna, while Elastigirl tries to solve the mystery of the enemy, while the Screenslaver starts to enslave supers for their own deeds.

The villain Screenslaver, is very relatable to today as everyone has a screen with them at all times through their phones and tablets. In a sense, people in the real world get enslaved by their screens as people get addicted to looking at screens constantly. Most people can't cope without having their phone or some form of technology with them. Along with the villain being relatable, the children of the Incredibles (Violet and Dash) are relatable too. Violet is like most girls in high school or in higher education when they have a crush on someone and wants to be noticed yet doesn’t want to make a fool of herself in front of him. Dash is relatable as he isn't perfect child even though he has powers; Dash in this film isn't perfect as he is struggling with Maths and his dad has to help him.

Incredibles 2 is just as good as the original Incredibles; it's funny and there are moments of tension as you aren't sure what is going to happen next. 14 years was worth the wait, the Incredibles 2 was worth this wait as at no point was I bored. Although at times it did feel like some parts of the movie was copied over from the original however it was still very enjoyable. Defiantly worth watching.
