Solar Opposites Season 3 (2022) Review

With this third season of Solar Opposites, it's a pleasant change to concentrate more on the humour than the individual characters. This programme is still not as humorous as programmes of a similar nature.

Due to Justin Roiland's involvement in both projects and the comparable animation styles, it is impossible to avoid comparisons to Rick and Morty when discussing Solar Opposites. In the end, Rick and Morty is still the superior programme. Season 3 of Solar Opposites is the best season to date primarily because it is the funniest. Each character is used appropriately and successfully to amuse the audience. Although the plot of The Wall has always been more dramatic than humorous, it is nonetheless engaging.

The third season is the funniest one thus far. This is primarily due to the jokes' less typical sci-fi-based humour and more grounded, everyday themes. The writers were able to adopt a more satirical tack this season because they gave the Solar Opposites a little more humanity.

Season 3's The Wall plot isn't flawless since Cherie and Halk defeat Tim far too quickly. Tim positioned himself as the hero who freed The Wall from The Duke's rule back in season 1. He should be difficult to defeat, but Cherie and Halk walk into his office and discover him to be gravely ill. Later, Tim passes away, and Cherie quickly becomes the new hero. He had all the makings of an excellent antagonist, but his talent has been wasted.

This season has seen some noticeable changes, one of which is how laid-back Korvo is. He's been the group's rigorous and challenging leader in previous seasons. Season 3 still has some of that, but it's not as much of a focus as it once was. This is a good change because it allows for more humour. By portraying this modification as a change in Korvo's way of life, Justin Roiland successfully carries out this transition. Korvo still has a consistent personality, but the rest of the show doesn't feel overshadowed by him.

This season, Terry's wacky and silly disposition truly stands out. His love of standing in line, his friendship with Malcolm Gladwell, his inability to digest Taco Bell, and his varied overreactions are some of his amusing concepts. Thomas Middleditch maintains Terry's pitch at a high level to effectively convey the character. That attitude really makes the character, and it complements Korvo beautifully.

Cherie has a significant part to play in the plot of The Wall. She exacts revenge on Tim early on, but she doesn't quite obtain what she wants. Having lost Tim, she searches for trouble elsewhere by getting rid of anything that can harm her child. In order to demonstrate how recent events have altered Cherie, Christina Hendricks does a fantastic job in her portrayal of bringing out her aggression. She has become vengeful as a result of the Wall, and she hasn't maturely accepted this.

The storyline of The Wall is timed poorly, which is the main complaint in this Solar Opposites season 3 review. It doesn't take nearly as long as it should for Tim to fall. He was positioned by the writers to be a strong adversary. Then they wasted him entirely. At the conclusion of season 2, Cherie and Halk were preparing for yet another conflict. However, all they managed to do was break into his office, discover he had been poisoned with lead, and arrest him. Tim later passes away quietly. To give Tim the proper conclusion, this arc needs to have lasted the entire third season.

Overall, there is a lot of satire, as we have already mentioned, in this season. It contains a tonne of references to actual events, which serves to build up some hilarious jokes. It makes watching the programme amusing and comfortable. In addition, jokes about DoorDash, Beyblade, Uber, and other topics provide relatable humour to season 3.

The jokes and soundtrack for this season are good. It’s just a shame that the wall story arc lets this season down slightly.
