The second season starts off with a bang, and this first episode kicks off straight up after the events of the last episode. Our favourite three are all suspects in the case over the death of Bunny.
This first episode helps to set up the new investigation of the second season quite nicely. However, this time the case is much more complicated, and the murderer is trying to blame our trio for the death of Bunny. In addition to that, the famed podcaster Cinda is trying to start up her own Only Murderers In The Building podcast, to rebel against our trio's podcast.
We start this episode with our trio being questioned by Detective William (from season 1) and Detective Kreps (played by Michael Rapaport). Yet they don’t have enough evidence to incriminate our trio. However, it was a nice comedic start to the episode and the season. Our trio now has newfound fame and they all want to start living their lives. Brazzo is coming back, Oliver might be producing a podcast with a celebrity, and Mable may start a new life as an artist.
However, they cannot escape Bunny’s death and what it means for them. Considering it's just the first episode, there are a lot of special guest appearances from Amy Schumer who is the new occupant of Sting’s former residence. We also meet Cara Delevingne, who is taking on the role of Alice. It seems strange to be seeing so many new faces in just the first episode, and some are playing themselves and others aren't. It's strange that in this world that Amy Schumer is still known for herself and yet Cara Delevinge doesn't exist.
Bunny is the focus of this season. In this first episode a lot of new evidence has already been brought up, but no real suspects yet. All we are told is that the number 14 is important and the word ‘savage’. In addition to that, a painting by Rose Cooper, which apparently costs a lot of money is another huge clue. However, we learn that the painting is missing. Whoever took the painting is thought to be the killer,
The ending of this episode was probably the best part of the episode. There is plenty of action, suspense, and clues. We discover a secret elevator in Bunny’s apartment, and the painting somehow makes it into Charles' apartment.
There is a lot to unpack in this first episode. However, it may lack the laughs, but it makes up for it in the mystery and suspense. As the season continues more clues will be relieved and suspects will show their faces. However, what is yet to be revealed is why Bunny, of all people, was killed. Thus, the secrets that Bunny was hiding will soon be uncovered, f the murderer is to be revealed.
From the very first second, we are back into the action. The magic of what made the first season so loved is still there, and the chemistry between the three leads still works. Episode one sets up nicely for what is yet to come. Hopefully, this season will be bigger than the last. Only Murders In The Building is a good mystery show, however, the jokes are lacking, when there used to be plenty.
