Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 1: Winterfell Review

Updated: Sep 12, 2019

**SPOILER FREE**

The final season is upon us. Below is spoiler free review of episode 1 of this final season.

We all have been waiting so long for this final season of Game of Thrones to begin even though no one really wants it to end. There are so many fan theories out there for what will happen and finally we are getting answers or reactions to information we have been waiting so long for.

This first episode of the final season didn’t disappoint to what will defiantly be an amazing roller-coaster last season. This episode was mainly set in Winterfell, but we get the reunions we have been waiting seasons for, which puts a smile onto your face. Secrets are revealed which makes a certain character question themselves and possibly their position. What this episode does, is set up the scene nicely for oncoming episodes as we know we will be facing a major battle in the next two episodes. We witness families coming together in unexpected ways.

The threat in this episode was that the White Walkers and their King were on their way, even though we didn’t see them, but we know they are coming as the wall fell down at the end of Season 7. One moment that made me jump in this episode was when we see a child pinned to a wall and we believe it is a warning or sign from the White Walker King and to be dead. Suddenly, the child makes a noise and burnt alive and we can hear the child screaming as he burns. This was the only gruesome part of this episode, yet we can expect a lot more death to come. We know that not all of our beloved characters will make it to the end of this season, we just don’t know how many we will lose or who we will lose.

Acting is always amazing in this show as we can invest in these character and for certain characters we don't want anything to happen to them or for them to hurt like Sam whose is Jon Snow's closest friend. He is a sweet, humble and loyal character and you wouldn't want anything to happen to him as he is one of the good guys. On the other hand some people wouldn't mind if something happened to Cersei. However after tonight's episode there is still speculation if Cersei is pregnant or not. Hopefully we will find out if she is or not soon and the consequences that will have. This is due to the fact that it was predicted in Season 1 that all three of her children will die, yet at the end of Season 7 it is hinted she is with child. Therefore, will Cersei die before this baby is born thus the baby will die too or the prediction was wrong or she isn't actually pregnant. It is more likely she is pregnant however the outcome of this baby doesn't seem to be good at the moment.

I am excited for the rest of this final season; this episode ends on a cliff-hanger and I'm excited to see what will happen next and how characters react when they come face to face once more. I look forward to what will come next and the next episode. If you haven’t watched this episode yet then what are you waiting for, this is worth a watch and then you will become addicted and want to watch the rest of the episodes to know what is going to happen.
