Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (S12E10) Review

The Timeless Children was the finale in this current series. Series 12 has been one of the best series we have received in the last few years. This episode is a showdown between The Doctor and The Master and the Cybermen. The Doctor finally learns the secrets that the Timelords had been hiding and they involve the Doctor herself in an unexpected way.

This is one of the tensest and edge of your seat episodes, Doctor Who has done in a while. The Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker and The Master played by Sacha Dhawan have amazing chemistry in this episode, both of their performances are faultless, best performances of the entire series. We really see and feel their pain and anger at certain points in this episode but we also see their intelligent sides as they both try to outsmart each other. The emphasis is on the Doctor and The Master in this episode, which is a good thing as viewers want the answers to what/who is the timeless child and we get them with these two characters. The answer is and isn’t predictable yet you will still feel shocked and surprised when it is revealed. Once it is revealed you want to know more yet we can't have those answers just yet.

We get a reappearance from someone who we met briefly in a previous episode and unfortunately it isn't Captain Jack as many people hoped for yet this character is still incredibly important. With Jack not being in this episode it makes us question when we may see him again as many viewers want to see who Jack and Whittaker's Doctor would be like together.

We have always known that the Master is powerful and crazy. Dhawan's version of the Doctor is one of the best incarnations we have received. With Dhawan's version of the Master we hate him yet a part of us love him and that is down to the amazing performance of Dhawan. We see so many sides to this Master yet we know for sure we can't trust him at all as he is very unpredictable which makes him a character to watch as we don't know what to expect from him next. As we know the Master destroyed Gallifrey, yet what he does in this episode with the Cybermen, makes us question if there is a way out for the Doctor and her friends.

A lot happens in this episode, but it is a true series finale as we are given loads of new information and left on a cliff-hanger. We now have to wait to see how the Doctor will escape and if she will ever see her 'fam' again. We even get to see a montage of all the past Doctor’s and friends which is quite a sweet moment to see old faces of past Doctors and companions.

Overall, this is a fantastic episode, one of the best episodes of the series and one of the best series finales for a while. This episode showcases the best performances of Whittaker as the Doctor and Dhawan as the Master. The Cybermen create a real threat in this episode. There are touching moments between Graham and Yaz as they fight for their survival. Secrets are revealed and we learn the true fate of Gallifrey and who is the Timeless Child and what that really means for the future of this show. Chibnall has really made a huge impact with this episode and thrown the rule book out of the window, Doctor Who is has now been changed forever with this one episode, which makes it exciting as to what will happen next as we want to discover more answers of the Timeless Child.

The Master and The Doctor reunite in this epic series 12 finale.
